Ireland
Dreams
Did I Tell
Him?
July 7,
2012
The time had arrived when I phoned my
mother -in- law and told her I could not hold it any longer! It was time to confess. I had not made reservations but had most of
the facts or so it seemed. That evening as
I prepared dinner, I told him that a secret was tearing me apart and gave him
the choice to know about it or stay in the dark. I explained that if he knew about it, the
best surprise of his lifetime would be spoiled.
Ireland or Australia had been a location Doug had wanted to visit for
some time. He choose to hear about it
all.
The rumble of not so distant noises came
from my mind and pit of the stomach wondering how I would hold my ground but
all at once the growling seemed to echo within my inner turmoil. What could I
do about him, should he resist? That was
easy, or so I thought! I was informed
and had been saving money-enough to pay for half of the flight and the rest would
be easy stretched out over the year.
(These had been the reasoning's in my
mind that sounded like a good debate should I need one!)
Imagine my joy when he just shook his
head and ask me if I was crazy! But with
only a brief time of discussion he thought it would not be a bad idea to see
Australia! AUSTRALIA!! I
had decided he spoke of Ireland more, so I did not research Australia except
that they had Kola Bears, Kangaroos and plenty of beaches to entertain you. Oh my, I did not want to look any
further! EEKS, now what? A bit of discussion and we were on our way together-to
IRELAND!
The time marched on relentlessly as we
were in the throes of planning the most adventurous trip of our lives
together.
Each time a new fact crossed our desk or
computer a lump would rise in my throat as I averted my mind for just that
split moment to rejoice over having found the " perfect deal"!!
Thank you for joining our journey as we
prepare for the vacation of our lifetime! Together we hope you enjoy the
excerpts from my Introduction. I don't want to spoil it for you so should you

Great post! Although it sounds like you had a lot of fun researching your Ireland trip, I'll bet it was even more fun planning it with your husband! What a wonderful experience.
ReplyDeleteSandy, I would not ever plan a surprise like this again on the final plans-it was too much fun planning it with the Extraordinary Man in my life!
DeleteThanks for stopping by..
Rosemary
Thanks Sandy. Once I told him some pressure was finally off. No more sneaking around! It was so much fun to plan a trip of this magnitude together. Thank you for the comment.
ReplyDeleteI loved this part and in the large review I start off with it but now I wonder if you want me giving so much away so think about whether you want me to expand the one on Goodreads and add this and alot more I have written. I'm not sure myself as you don't want to give to much away, but you do want to give enough to whet their whistles--in the meantime you have the small review on twitter ready to be retweeted and on that strange fb page of mine and on my own blog--plus goodreads.
ReplyDeleteMicki, you are such an angel and I thank you for giving your time to our journey. It would be such fun to have the group return with us in 2013.
DeleteLet's talk and decide what you feel is best for posting reviews. I sure do not want the larger review to go to waste!
As Always,
Rosemary
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI am quite sure you will love Ireland. I have been there and it is absolutely lovely.
Enjoy yourselves.
Ciao,

It's so nice to know how it all began! BTW, did you ever get to Australia or have plans of going?
ReplyDeleteDeirdre, we have not been to Australia but hope to in the near future but a return to Ireland in 2013 comes first.
DeleteThank you for taking time to visit my blog.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend although you plan to do computer work!
Lovingly,
Rosemary
I'm so glad you told him, so you could plan together! (I was sure you would!)
ReplyDeleteSandra, I am so far behind-forgive me. Thank you so much for stopping in. I just could noit keep such a huge secret! We have never kept things to ourselves in 25 years and it felt better to tell him!
DeleteRosemary ~ I love hearing about how your journey to Ireland began. When I treat myself, it is with travel. I love exploring new places, meeting new people, the works. I look forward to reading more. ~ Peggy
